Gloucestershire Community Support Services, run by Precious Homes, has received overwhelmingly positive feedback following a recent inspection by The Care Quality Commission (CQC. The service was rated good overall, with an outstanding rating for responsiveness.
Based in Maismore, Gloucestershire Community Support Services provides care and support to people who live in local supported living settings. The support provided enables people with learning disabilities, autism and/or mental health needs to live as independently as possible.
The report summary, which can be found on the CQC website, states: “The service was outstandingly responsive to people’s individual belief’s, preferences and needs, and people’s wellbeing was enhanced by person-centered activity planning. People’s individual needs were assessed, and comprehensive care plans and risk assessments were in place to help staff support people in accordance with their preferences. The service was well led by a management team who were passionate about providing high-quality individualised care to people. Robust quality assurance systems and a strong learning culture contributed to continual development and progression of the service.”
Vicky Hazeldine, registered manager at Gloucester Community Services, was quoted in the report as saying, “I leave the service and know that people are living their best lives. The care here is consistent and staff are skilled.”
The summary report continues, “All staff demonstrated extremely compassionate, attentive and caring approaches in their interactions with people. They consistently promoted and encouraged people’s independence and treated them with dignity and respect. People and their relatives were complimentary about the approach of the staff and the current management team.”
As the independent regulator of health and social care in England, CQC inspect and rate services based on five key questions: 1 Are they safe? 2. Are they effective? 3. Are they caring? 4. Are they responsive to people’s needs? 5. Are they well-led? Gloucester Community Services was rated as Good in all categories with the exception of responsiveness, in which the service was rated as outstanding.
Speaking about the inspection, Vicky commented: “I’m incredibly proud of the team. This was our first inspection for both the service and for me as a registered manager and the result is an absolute credit to every member of the team who work each day to give the guys we support a happy life. I couldn’t wish to spend my days with a better bunch of people.”
