Great feedback for Dyers Mews following Healthwatch visit

A huge well done to Patience Mukosa and the Dyers Mews team, who received great feedback from a recent Enter and View visit, carried out by Healthwatch Milton Keynes. 

Dyers Mews is a six-bedroom Residential Service designed to support up to six autistic adults, or those with learning disabilities and associated needs, to develop the skills and confidence necessary to lead a more independent life. Patience and her team pride themselves on creating a nurturing and homely environment, where people’s rights, independence, and choices are actively promoted. The team works in partnership with each person that they support and their wider support teams to create clear care plans that support people on their journey to independence.

The purpose of this Enter and View programme was to engage with residents, their relatives, or carers, to explore their overall experience of living at Dyers Mews. The report, which can be found in full on the Healthwatch website, included the following feedback: 

“Staff were observed to be encouraging, caring and supportive with residents. At the beginning of the visit, we saw the calmness with which situations were handled.” 

“Residents are encouraged to be independent, preparing their own breakfasts and lunches, and tidying their rooms etc. Staff are aware of the preferences of the people they care for and have a good understanding of what is appropriate for each individual.” 

“We would like to congratulate Dyers Mews on the culture within the home as well as the physical environment of the Home.”

During the same period, the Dyers Mews team was also visited by Milton Keynes Council, for a contract monitoring review. Once again, the team had good feedback across the board, and were rated as good across all domains. 

Lisa Pettefer, Operations Manager covering Dyers Mews, commented: “I am incredibly proud of the team at Dyers – they are amazing, and I’m very proud of everything they have achieved. Patience is a very supportive manager, and leads by example every day.”
