Do you have the passion and determination to make a difference in the lives of people with complex needs?
A huge well done to Zaynab, who has been shortlisted for a Children & Young People Now (CYPN) Award. Zaynab, who lives at one of our supported living flats in Birmingham, was nominated for the award in recognition of the work she does to shape mental health provision.
Now in their sixteenth year, these awards provide a great source of pride and recognition for all those who strive day in, day out, to improve the lives of others. The category that Zaynab has been shortlisted for is The Children’s Achievement Award. The website says that the award is “for the individual child or young person that has achieved significant improvements in his or her own outcomes and made a positive contribution in their community through activities such as volunteering or campaigning.”
The award description is a perfect fit for Zaynab, who has worked tirelessly to share her personal experience of the mental health system in order to help shape provision for the future.
She is involved in a number of projects, steering committees, expert by experience groups, research advisory panels at universities, research councils and lecturing spots. By sharing her personal story, she hopes to inspire others and to help professionals shape their approach to mental health care and support more effectively. She is no stranger to awards or sharing her story, having previously won a Princess Diana Humanitarian award and delivered a TED talk.
