We offer supported living services in Torquay for autistic adults or adults with learning disabilities, who are largely independent or working towards living independently. Accommodation is managed by Golden Lane Housing, with support provided by Precious.

Overview

We work closely with Golden Lane Housing to support people to organise their accommodation, funding, and tenancies. Support is provided by the Precious team, and tailored to meet the specific needs of each person, enabling them to develop the independence, skills, and confidence necessary to move on to more independent living over time.

As an award-winning provider of social care, Precious offers specialised support that is tailored around each individual’s needs. Our supported living and outreach teams work closely with Social Care professionals, Health and Community teams to ensure that support is co-produced with those we support, with a focus on ensuring independence, choice, empowerment and inclusion.

Tailored support, bespoke accommodation

Our Supported Living Plus service in Torquay comprises 12 flats across two buildings, with a shared living room. With various sizes and layouts including eight studio flats, three one-bedroom flats, and one two-bedroom flat, the support we offer is able to meet a variety of needs and preferences.

Everyone has access to the large garden and striking views of the sea. Each flat is spacious and set across the ground and first floors to meet a variety of individual needs and preferences.

The balance of personal and communal space makes the accommodation an ideal step-down service for someone moving on from a secure or residential setting, taking the next step onto community living.

Supported Living Plus

Our Supported Living Plus services offer a step down for people who are ready to move away from residential care but who may need more support than supported living settings. This enables us to offer a higher level of initial support with a clear pathway for reducing support over time as people become more independent.

Accomodation is provided by Golden Lane Housing, who support people to maintain their own tenancies.

Our recruitment process is focussed on values, ensuring that we only employ people who believe in kindness, involvement, quality of life and progress. We provide ongoing training, support and mentoring to ensure that our team have the skills required to deliver high quality care.

Our Clinical Support Team

In addition to our highly trained support teams, we also have a specialist in-house Clinical Support Team. The Clinical Support Team is a team of specialists from different disciplines, who work closely together to deliver additional support and expertise to the people we support at Precious.

By having an in-house team, we bring together professionals and practitioners from across different sectors to deliver person-centred, holistic care which focuses on the needs of the individual. With no need to apply and wait for support from external teams, we can provide this specialist support quickly and efficiently.

PBS

At Precious, we are committed to improving the support we provide by embedding Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) throughout the organisation. At its very core, PBS is about treating people with respect, putting their needs at the centre and enabling them to achieve the quality and enjoyment of life that everyone aspires to.

PBS takes a person-centred approach to identify which areas of support will be most helpful to each individual. This includes working closely with the people we support to make sure that their choices and goals are heard, respected and actioned.

The Local Community

Based in Torquay, the accommodation is close to the sea and is surrounded by stunning scenery, countryside, and beaches. The calming locale often helps to reduce anxiety and improve health and wellbeing.

The service is within easy access to local shops, restaurants, health and wellbeing facilities and has excellent transport links into Torquay. There are a range of further activities on our doorstep, including zoological gardens, a steam railway, countryside walks in Dartmoor, as well as the theatres and activities offered by the local seaside towns.

Referrals

We provide a rapid response to referrals and we will normally arrange a professional assessment within a few days of your call.

Our highly experienced team will carry out a full and detailed pre-admission assessment, free of charge and without obligation, prior to a placement being offered. This focuses on understanding the unique needs of each person and forms the basis of the their support plans if they move into the service.
