We offer supported living plus services in Dudley for autistic people and people with learning disabilities. The service also supports individuals who are stepping down from secure units and hospitals including those who may have experienced previous placement breakdowns. Accommodation is managed by Golden Lane Housing, with support provided by Precious.

Overview

We work closely with Golden Lane Housing to support people to organise their accommodation, funding, and tenancies. Support is provided by the Precious team (Black Country Community Services), and tailored to meet the specific needs of each person, enabling them to develop the independence, skills, and confidence necessary to move on to more independent living over time.

As an award-winning provider of social care, Precious offers specialised support that is tailored around each individual’s needs. Our supported living and outreach teams work closely with Social Care professionals, Health and Community teams to ensure that support is co-produced with those we support, with a focus on ensuring independence, choice, empowerment and inclusion.

Tailored support, bespoke accommodation

The accommodation in Dudley, provided by Golden Lane, consists of six bright, modern and spacious self-contained flats. Each flat contains a bedroom, ensuite bathroom, living room/dining space and kitchen. Some of the flats also have an additional room and bathroom. Ideal for those with complex needs, these additional rooms can be used flexibly for those requiring additional space. This also minimises disruption if repairs are required or if additional space is needed for higher levels of support.

The flats have been carefully designed to provide a safe yet homely environment for the people that will live and work there. Rounded corners on walls, stimulating artwork and solid, stylish furniture, fixtures and fittings are designed with safety, accessibility and independence at their heart.

The flats also benefit from private outside space. A decked area offers a valuable opportunity for soaking up the sunshine. The local park is close by, providing the chance to go out into the local community and enjoy some green space and fresh air.

Supported Living Plus

Our Supported Living Plus services offer a step down for people who are ready to move away from residential care but who may need more support than supported living settings. This enables us to offer a higher level of initial support with a clear pathway for reducing support over time as people become more independent.

Accomodation is provided by Golden Lane Housing, who support people to maintain their own tenancies.

Our Clinical Support Team

In addition to our highly trained support teams, we also have a specialist in-house Clinical Support Team. The Clinical Support Team is a team of specialists from different disciplines, who work closely together to deliver additional support and expertise to the people we support at Precious.

By having an in-house team, we bring together professionals and practitioners from across different sectors to deliver person-centred, holistic care which focuses on the needs of the individual. With no need to apply and wait for support from external teams, we can provide this specialist support quickly and efficiently.

PBS

At Precious, we are committed to improving the support we provide by embedding Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) throughout the organisation. At its very core, PBS is about treating people with respect, putting their needs at the centre and enabling them to achieve the quality and enjoyment of life that everyone aspires to.

PBS takes a person-centred approach to identify which areas of support will be most helpful to each individual. This includes working closely with the people we support to make sure that their choices and goals are heard, respected and actioned.

The Local Community

Located in the community of Netherton, less than two miles from Dudley, the flats have easy access to local shops, restaurants, sports facilities, social groups and health services. Access to these services plays an essential role in community integration, development of social skills, and facilitating positive relationships outside of the service.

Referrals

We provide a rapid response to referrals and we will normally arrange a professional assessment within a few days of your call.

Our highly experienced team will carry out a full and detailed pre-admission assessment, free of charge and without obligation, prior to a placement being offered. This focuses on understanding the unique needs of each person and forms the basis of the their support plans if they move into the service.
