Ulysses House is a Residential Service designed to support up to five autistic adults, or those with learning disabilities and associated needs, to develop the skills and confidence necessary to lead a more independent life.

Overview

Based in Edgbaston, just south-west of Birmingham, the service has been designed to support five people, including those who may have experienced previous placement breakdowns. We provide a nurturing environment, where people’s rights, independence, and choices are actively promoted and support is based on individual needs and goals.

Tailored support, bespoke accommodation

Ulysses House offers four en-suite bedrooms and two flatlets, with a variety of internal communal spaces, including a living room, dining room, and kitchen. This arrangement ensures that everyone has access to their own private space, with shared spaces to encourage social interaction, reduce isolation, and support the varied needs of the people we support.

Our enclosed communal garden is also home to a sunken trampoline, swing, and hot tub. As well as providing an area to socialise, exercise and get fresh air, the garden facilities are great for sensory input, helping to meet the needs of the people we support.

Our Residential Model

Our residential provision is far removed from traditional models of support— with a focus on community integration, proactive development of independence and Individual Care Pathways.

Our qualified team members provide each person with the care and support that they need, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – providing a safe, positive and stimulating environment. Services are carefully designed to meet the needs of the individuals who live there —adapting provision to meet individual need, whilst ensuring staffing structures and training are built around each person.

Our recruitment process is focussed on values, ensuring that we only employ people who believe in kindness, involvement, quality of life and progress. We provide ongoing training, support and mentoring to ensure that our team have the skills required to deliver high quality care.

Our Clinical Support Team

In addition to our highly trained support teams, we also have a specialist in-house Clinical Support Team. The Clinical Support Team is a team of specialists from different disciplines, who work closely together to deliver additional support and expertise to the people we support at Precious.

By having an in-house team, we bring together professionals and practitioners from across different sectors to deliver person-centred, holistic care which focuses on the needs of the individual. With no need to apply and wait for support from external teams, we can provide this specialist support quickly and efficiently.

PBS

At Precious, we are committed to improving the support we provide by embedding Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) throughout the organisation. At its very core, PBS is about treating people with respect, putting their needs at the centre and enabling them to achieve the quality and enjoyment of life that everyone aspires to.

PBS takes a person-centred approach to identify which areas of support will be most helpful to each individual. This includes working closely with the people we support to make sure that their choices and goals are heard, respected and actioned.

The Local Community

Based in Edgbaston, Birmingham, the service is in the heart of the community, with easy access to local shops, restaurants, colleges and health and leisure facilities. Ulysses House also benefits from excellent transport links into Birmingham City Centre and a team with knowledge of the local and surrounding areas.

Our CQC Report

Referrals

We provide a rapid response to referrals and we will normally arrange a professional assessment within a few days of your call.

Our highly experienced team will carry out a full and detailed pre-admission assessment, free of charge and without obligation, prior to a placement being offered. This focuses on understanding the unique needs of each person and forms the basis of the their support plans if they move into the service.
